Meet Our Staff:

Pastor Penni Walsh:

Deb Abbott, Visitation Pastor:

We are all called by God to share the gospel and serve in many different ways. I enjoy serving as a pastor and doing the work of the church and am excited to join your visitation ministry at Shepherd of the Hills. I was born and raised in the sunny land of Fresno, California and am a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California. Between college and seminary I spent a year in the Lutheran Volunteer Corps in Washington D.C. Since my ordination in 2006 I have served congregations in Billings and Kalispell, Montana and currently serve as Campus Pastor for Lutheran Episcopal Campus Ministry at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.  I live in Fort Collins with my husband Brad Abbott, who is the Executive Director of Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp.

I’ve been a member of Shepherd of the Hills since 2004, but I’ve been a Lutheran all my life. After spending 30 years working in IT, I’m so thrilled to be the Office Manager for SOTH! I get a chance to use my organization skills, and work with some awesome people, all at the same time! In my spare time, I am an avid photographer and traveler, and of course spending time with my mom, Donna, and my sister and her husband, Debbie and Rich.

 O-GRADY-SueSue O’Grady, Financial Associate:

I have been a part of Shepherd of the Hills for over 20 years and I have worked as Financial Associate for the past two years.  I enjoy the people here and feel very fortunate to be a part of this church’s mission.  Originally from Boulder, I attended CSU and graduated with a business degree.  After college, I worked in the banking industry in Denver, but my husband, Jim, and I always wanted to return to Fort Collins. I got the chance when Anheuser-Busch opened their brewery in Fort Collins.  I worked for the brewery for ten years, eventually leaving to raise my children and help my parents.  Now I work part-time for the church and seasonally preparing taxes.  We have two nearly-grown sons that we just adore.  Outside of family activities, I spend my time poking around graveyards and researching my family history online.
Amie Adams Mortenson, Director of Service and Outreach, Youth Ministry:

As the newest member of the SOTH staff, I am very excited to work as both the Director of Service and Outreach and the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. I grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa, and attended college at Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa, before moving to Fort Collins with my husband, Kaleb. I received a B.A. from Northwestern, where I studied Writing & Rhetoric and Religion. I have a huge passion for the environment, so I do a lot of nature writing, and I am always looking for ways to get involved with creation care. I hope to incorporate my love for the environment into my role as Director of Service and Outreach because I believe that one of the best ways we can make tangible our love for God and our neighbor is by caring for the world around us. I also spent five years as a camp counselor, so I am excited to work with youth of all ages at SOTH and to help coordinate Sunday School activities!

LouieLouie Hernandez, Custodian

My name is Louie. I am 21 years old and I live with my family. I Have one 9 year old brother named Alan and a 14 year old sister named Stephanie. I am the only one in my family with a disability. I have Asperger’s syndrome and I do have problems getting involved in parties and making friends. However, I don’t think of aspergers as a disability. In fact, I think of Asperger’s as an advantage in life.  I have a passion in the zoology field. I am currently attending front range community college to get my associate of science degree and then transfer to csu and major in zoology. I want to specialize in all animal fields including: mammology, herpetology, ornithomology, ichthyology, and last but not least, paleozoology (that includes dinosaurs and other ancient animals such as mammoths and ancient fishes). When I’m in a zoo, aquarium or nature museum, I am always entertained and I never want to leave. All in all, I am a very friendly person that also loves to make people happy when they are in a bad mood and as long as I see animals and dinosaur fossils, I am a very happy person. I’m the zoology man!!!
